Professional Goals

  1. I want to continue to learn and explore this role as an advocate for the community.
  2. I also want to eventually go back to school and earn my masters degree.

My Story

I have always had an interest in learning more about people and their thought processes. It wasn’t until my undergrad that I was able to explore some of these interests which led me to take courses in cognition, memory and even abnormal psychology. These are topics that I really enjoyed learning about and helped me discover more about my own passions and personal goals. Additionally, during that time in school, I learned that a younger family member of ours was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and it has been a learning experience both in a school setting and at home. By the end of my undergrad, I knew I wanted to work with kids. I am excited to be a part of the team here as a Therapeutic Assistant for Blue Bird Day.

My Education

Bachelor of Science in General Psychology and Criminology, Law and Society,
University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)

My Blue Bird Day

What drew me to Blue Bird Day initially was their accessibility and commitment to the community. Being able to provide care for the clients as well as provide knowledge for parents and/or caregivers that may be experiencing a diagnosis for the first time. Being able to see what happens here is incredible, everyone is so attentive of the client’s needs as well as of each other as coworkers. I was impressed with the line of open communication that is ever present. I am excited to work with this wonderful team of professionals and hope to learn plenty.

Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate  preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.

We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy.  A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.

Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
