My Story
While going to school to obtain my Bachelor’s degree, I became more intrigued with speech and hearing science classes that I would take for my major. Soon, I picked up a minor in Speech and Hearing Science halfway through my undergraduate career. By the time I graduated, my passion for speech and hearing science was at an all time high, however I chose to take a break from school to focus on my mental health and finances that grew to be my main priority. During that time, I did have a job working as a teacher assistant in a daycare where I reconnected with my passion in language and speech development in children as they hit important milestones in their life. Still only worrying about financial problems, I obtained several other jobs that helped develop and perfect communication amongst staff and client. Soon after, I felt it was finally time to jump into and continue my path in possibly obtaining a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.
My Advocacy
I advocate for having equal social and public gatherings and festivals accessible for everyone, including those who process sensory information differently than other people. An organization that definitely works with creating safe spaces for everyone is called Sensory Access. They provide sensory friendly spaces and tools to create a fun experience for everyone!
My Blue Bird Day Goals
- Several of my professional goals involve going into graduate school for my Master’s involving speech therapy /speech pathology.
