My Story

I remember always wanting to be an educator. I spent a lot of time collecting school supplies and playing teacher with my cousins as a child. I grew up in a family that spent a lot of time volunteering for various organizations and very early on learned the value of discovering people’s differences and doing your best to help those in need.

My Blue Bird Day

One of the first things that struck me about the organization was how much progress and growth we get to be a part of. Everyone fully commits to clients making progress towards their goals and commits to their own personal and professional growth, and improvement of our community. I was hooked after my 2nd week here when a client made eye contact and smiled for the first time – it was a huge moment for him and our whole team and his development just took off from there. This is what I still love about our organization. I learn something new everyday and I’m surrounded by a community that wants to always do the best we can.

My Advocacy

National MS Society in support of my mom who’s lived with MS for over 20 years. The Chicago Autism Network, founded by one of our very own Blue Bird Day/Eyas Landing parents. U4Uganda – a nonprofit founded by my family to build desks in schools for children in Uganda. Autism Speaks, Habitat for Humanity, Best Buddies International.

My Blue Bird Day Goals

  1. To provide understanding and support to our community and to advocate for all children to receive the life-changing support of Blue Bird Day and Eyas Landing. I strive to engage the administrative team in its mission to provide exceptional and customized services to all clients and providers.

Huge thank you to Erin for all her hard work and expertise with getting Central Reach up and running! I know it’s been a big learning curve for all, but you are always coming up with new ideas to streamline our paperwork and I can always count on your patience to explain things to me and the rest of the BBD team. Thank you, EP!
