My Story
I grew up with a large extended family surrounded by a lot of children. I was always the young kid wanting to hold and take care of my younger cousins. Before starting college, I knew I wanted to work with the pediatric population but was not sure what healthcare profession I wanted to pursue. When I found the field of Occupational Therapy, I fell in love with the holistic and client-centered focus the career holds. In graduate school, when I worked with my first pediatric client, I instantly knew this was the population I was meant to work with. I am passionate about working with children of all ages and collaborating with their families to help them be successful in meaningful daily tasks and gain independence especially through play (my favorite occupation).
My Advocacy
I am a strong advocate for working with displaced children and individuals across the lifespan. I completed my doctoral capstone in Chicago, Illinois where I worked, developed, and implemented curriculum resources for school-aged refugee and asylum-seeking children that addressed occupational performance after forced migration.
My Education
Doctorate of Occupational Therapy,
University of Mary
Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science,
Carroll University
My Eyas Landing
- I want to provide client-centered and evidence-based interventions for my clients and their families.
- As an entry-level practitioner, I want to grow in my pediatric clinical skills and expertise.
- I want to complete my Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) and Sequential Oral Sequencing (SOS) Approach certifications to increase my knowledge in sensory integration and feeding therapy.
Blue Bird Day
Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.
We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy. A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.
Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
