Presented a poster at AOTA in 2018: Brady K, Ely L, Mittman B, Pieczko N, Janes WE (2018, April). Introducing an On-Demand Model for GoBabyGoEarly Childhood Power Mobility Provision. Poster presented at the American Occupational Therapy Association Annual Conference & Expo, Salt Lake City UT.

My Story
I was always creative and social and was very involved with music in high school. I originally thought about music therapy as a profession, but my guidance counselor encouraged me to look into OT. I began shadowing in the hospitals and fell in love. It helped that at the time my dad was in a mid-life career change from an accountant to a PT, so hearing him talk about therapy fascinated me.
My Education
Bachelors of Health Science in Occupational Therapy,
University of Missouri – Columbia
Masters of Occupational Therapy,
University of Missouri – Columbia
My Advocacy
My previous job was in an area that has been chronically underserved and we certainly saw effects of that in the community/in our clients. I recently became involved with the Center for Food Equity in Medicine (which is based near my previous work) and would like to find involvement in equity-related work near here.
My Blue Bird Day
My interview process gave me lots of hope/encouragement that this will be a wonderful and supportive working environment.
My Professional Goals
- I am excited to be transitioning to this role which is based in more longer-term relationships than any position I’ve had before. I’m not sure what this looks like yet, but I would love to establish long-lasting therapeutic relationships with clients and their families so that I can work with them through various phases of life.
Blue Bird Day
Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.
We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy. A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.
Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
