My Story

I have loved working with children since I was barely an adult myself. While I knew without a doubt that I wanted to work with children for my career, I didn’t know which direction I wanted to go. I shadowed an array of child-centered professions but it wasn’t until a shadowed a pediatric speech-language that a spark was ignited. I loved how children could learn to express their wants and needs while simultaneously reducing frustration and negative behaviors all while learning through play. I became passionate about becoming a speech-language pathologist who could help give children a voice to effectively communicate with their families and communities. I completed my undergrad in psychology which has been a great foundation for helping understand the perspectives of the children and families I have worked with. While completing the pre-requisites for graduate school, I worked as a preschool teacher and volunteered at a feeding clinic at St. Paul Children’s Hospital. Working with preschoolers and helping children and families with feeding difficulties continue to be two of my greatest passions! I graduated from Rush University in the spring of 2017 and worked at a pediatric clinic until coming to Blue Bird Day at the beginning of 2020.

My Blue Bird Day

I have loved working at Blue Bird Day for many reasons. First of all, it is amazing the progress I have seen kids make here due to the intensive model of therapy. I love that Blue Bird offers a safe and supportive environment for kids to receive all of the therapies they need to learn and grow while also giving them the opportunity to interact with peers. Finally, I love how collaborative the therapist teams and staff is at Blue Bird. Everyone here is so invested in helping our clients and their families reach their goals!

Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate  preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.

We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy.  A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.

Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
