My Story

Growing up, I wanted to be a teacher just like my mom. I was leaning towards Special Education until my mom had me observe the speech therapist at her school and I was sold! I have been very fortunate to observe and work in school, clinic, and hospital settings with clients ranging from 1 year to 80 years old. I have enjoyed all of my experiences, but my heart has always been with the little ones!

My Blue Bird Day

Working in a facility that emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach has allowed me to grow so much as a therapist in a short amount of time. I am constantly learning from my colleagues and everyone is always open to collaborating. We all have different areas of expertise and work together to problem-solve for each individual kiddo.

My Blue Bird Day Goals

  1. Continue PROMPT training and work towards Certification
  2. Continue to develop my repertoire of American Sign Language (ASL)
  3. Consistently participate in continuing education courses to increase and expand my knowledge in different areas of my field

From my peers: “Kirsten does a great job at meeting families where they are at and sharing all the ways that children communicate. As a provider from another discipline, I love when my families feel empowered to share “we are working on BLANK in speech therapy” and bring that into our sessions to generalize skills.”

“You always have a smile, good sense of humor and patience, even on your really busy days!”
