My Story
I learned about occupational therapy while working as a TA in a special-education classroom a long, long time ago. I was floundering around, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and one of the OTs encouraged me to go back to school. I applied to only one graduate program (UIC) and decided if I didn’t get in, I’d join the Peace Corp. Well, I got in and I’ve never regretted it as occupational therapy corresponds with many of my interests and beliefs: primarily, encouraging others to lead personally fulfilling lives. After working as an OT in nursing homes for 8 years, I joined team Blue Bird to challenge myself personally and professionally.
