My Story
My goal has always been to work with pediatrics/ adolescent group. I had always been drawn to helping others and making a difference no matter how small it may be. Being a first generation and Hispanic, I always pushed for normalization in mental health and the importance to seek for help especially for the youth to help young ones receive the extra support that is needed. Working at a daycare setting after receiving my Bachelors degree opened my mind to many new career interests that never crossed my mind. Being in that setting made me realize there are children who need extra support from therapists to help them achieve their goals and build that independence in their every day life. I never realized how much these developmental goals/skills impact the child growing up; that was when I decided I wanted to make an impact on these children and their families. It brought me joy to see my little ones achieve their milestones and watching them grow, but I wanted to do so much more for those who were struggling and were developmentally delayed or had a disability. Shortly after, I was given an opportunity to work as an RBT. Ever since, I have found my purpose in life which is to help others.
My Blue Bird Day
I am new at Blue Bird Day, but Blue Bird Day has allowed me to continue to do what I love which is helping children grow and achieving their goals. Blue Bird Day has been very welcoming and has provided wonderful support and resources that will allow me to continue to grow as a therapist.
My Blue Bird Day Goals
- To return back to school and obtain a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
- To grow as a therapist to continue to help children achieve their goals and build confidence and independence in their every day lives.
