My Story

I was incredibly lucky to have a sister born with Down Syndrome who is my pride and inspiration! Because of her, I was integrated into the disability community from a young age, which fostered my passion for disability advocacy, integration, and accommodation! Additionally, seeing how various therapies positively impacted my sister’s independence and ability to self-advocate lead to my desire to work in early-childhood intervention for children with disabilities.

My Blue Bird Day

I have just moved to Lincoln Park from my hometown, St. Charles. I found Blue Bird Day through Indeed.com and was immediately impressed by the amazing work they do!

My Advocacy

I have been a big supporter of the non-profit GiGi’s Playhouse (Down Syndrome Achievement Centers) since their first location opened in 2003! They do great work for people with Down Syndrome of all ages, including tutoring/education, therapies, and career planning and preparedness, to name a few! I have also been involved for several years with Special Olympics and a few special recreation organizations. Their fostering of social growth and physical health and their advocacy for accommodation and integration is invaluable!

My Blue Bird Day Goals

  1. I am currently applying to several Master/Doctorate of Occupational Therapy programs in and around the Chicago area. I hope to begin my studies in the fall of 2021!
