My Story

I am originally from Monterrey, Mexico, but lived most of my life in Texas. This past May I graduated from St. Edwards’s University in Austin, Texas and decided to move to Chicago to further my knowledge in a therapeutic setting. I’ve always had a passion for working with children and a calling for helping those with all sorts of disabilities. Volunteering as a counselor at Children’s Association for Maximum Potential camp, a summer camp for children with disabilities, opened a door to showing me what I’m passionate about. Since then, I’ve been a teacher’s assistant for a special education teacher, I’ve given swimming lessons to over 30 children over the summers. I’ve been lucky enough to intern at CRIT Teleton, the biggest therapy clinic in all of Mexico, as well had the opportunity to have volunteered and shadowed in 4 different clinics in Texas. I truly believe that all these experiences and more have pushed and shaped me to one day accomplish my goal to become a great occupational therapist.

My Advocacy

To continue my education to better help and support all types of children and adults with all types of mental, physical, and developmental disabilities. I support the Special Olympics, American Occupational Therapy Association, and the Children’s Association for Maximum Potential: CAMP.
