My Story

I have always known that I wanted to work with children, and initially thought that I wanted to be a pediatrician. I was pre-med throughout my undergraduate experience, until I started volunteering in a rehabilitation hospital in my senior year and fell in love with occupational therapy! After seeing how creative and passionate the therapists were, the amazing relationships they made with the kids and their families, the progress that the children made toward their goals, and the holistic, client-centered philosophy behind what they were doing, I knew that it was the perfect job for me!

My Blue Bird Day

I had a fieldwork placement at the West Loop location for 3 months and was so impressed by the strong, supportive community that BBD created, the collaboration between different disciplines and family members, and loved getting to know and learn from all the dedicated staff and kids. I’m so excited to be back at Blue Bird as a staff member to pursue my passion of working with children and helping them develop the skills needed to learn, play, and thrive in their everyday lives.

My Blue Bird Day Goals

  1. There are so many areas of practice that I would like to specialize in or learn more about as I continue to grow as a therapist, including SOS feeding, reflex integration, trauma-informed care, and early intervention.
  2. I also hope to get more involved in advocacy efforts related to occupational justice and cultural competency for all healthcare providers.
  3. Overall, my main goal is just to never stop learning and improving upon myself as a therapist!
