My Story

Throughout my life experiences and my academic and professional work, the common thread that binds them together is my passion for supporting children through stressful situations and everyday challenges. I recently completed my Master’s degree in Child Development at Erikson Institute and obtained the credential of Certified Child Life Specialist. While child life is becoming more established outside of hospitals, Blue Bird Day immediately caught my eye as I am so passionate about helping children cope positively and succeed in their day-to-day life. During my clinical experiences, I found that advocating for individual needs, adapting in the moment, and quickly building rapport came natural to me. My time spent in multiple pediatric settings also allowed me to recognize my passion for utilizing children’s strengths and interests when shaping my interventions. I wanted to take on the role of a Therapeutic Assistant to further my skills working with children with various developmental needs and gain more experience collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, including PT, OT, speech, and other disciplines. After talking with staff at Blue Bird, I am enthused to incorporate my background in child life to contribute to the success of Blue Bird Day’s services!

My Blue Bird Day

No previous experience, but I am very excited to start working at Blue Bird Day and build on my professional skillset to incorporate in my child life career!

My Advocacy

I am heavily involved with Camp One Step by Children’s Oncology Services Inc. and I am currently helping lead and plan virtual programming for children diagnosed with cancer. Other organizations I support include Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, American Cancer Society, BLM and Swashbuckler’s Joy Inc. 🙂

My Blue Bird Day Goals

  1. I want to establish an adaptive care program within a hospital or healthcare setting to improve care and ensure positive experiences for children with developmental and behavioral challenges.
