My Story

When I had my first daughter in 2014, I was a veterinary technician in the ER department of a busy animal hospital. While I loved my job, it required me to work very long shifts, lots of weekends, and many holidays – things that I didn’t mind up until I had a family. I chose to pursue a physical therapist assistant degree because healthcare has always been an interest of mine, as well as exercise and being physically active. Originally I thought I’d want to work in outpatient orthopedics. Around the time that I started taking classes at College of DuPage, my daughter was officially diagnosed with autism. She’d been receiving speech and occupational therapy through the Early Intervention program, but when she turned three I began taking her pediatric therapy clinics and I FELL IN LOVE with every child we’d interact! I knew that working with kids was where I belonged!

My Blue Bird Day

I was beyond excited when I discovered that Blue Bird Day was coming to Wheaton! I’d been so tempted to apply at the Chicago locations, but with two little girls at home (one with her own busy therapy schedule), it just wasn’t feasible for me to make the commute.

My Advocacy

I love participating in events/races that support charities benefitting people and animals.

My Blue Bird Day Goals

  1. Some specific goals that I have include becoming proficient in primitive reflex integration as well as idiopathic toe walking.
  2. I’m also hoping to one day author and illustrate a children’s book.
