Job Summary

Provides leadership and supervision to employees within their discipline across locations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of therapy groups, individual therapy sessions and daily case management tasks.
  • Complete daily treatment notes, daily data input and analysis, initial and annual evaluations, plan of care documents to update goals and other documentation as needed within required time frame.
  • Implement Blue Bird Day curriculum and theories of practice models supporting Blue Bird Day's therapeutic model.
  • Participate in on-going collaboration with the client's team and family including weekly emails, phone calls, and in-person discussions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients and families by providing parent education, home programs, and parent support as needed.
  • Create visual schedules, social stories, and home programs to help support therapy goals.
  • Participate in required supervision meetings with their department head during transition into role.
  • Participate in all required company orientation, professional development days, and ongoing trainings as required.
  • Leads location department meetings and team meetings as needed. Actively participates in all staff meetings and team leads meetings as needed.
  • Interviews candidates for open positions within their disciplines and collaborates with Clinic Director in the selection of new hires.
  • Supports new hire onboarding through mentorship and supervision.
  • Serves as a liaison between therapists within location's department and scheduling team regarding individual therapist scheduling needs, department productivity, and as needed.
  • Collaborate with Clinic Director and Human Resources to complete annual performance reviews and performance check-ins for therapists within their location's department.
  • Monitor department therapist daily documentation requirements and report issues with Clinic Director.
  • Collaborates with data team to ensure completion of data audits, quarterly check-ins, client hierarchy goals, and baselining procedures.
  • Monitor supply of department therapy materials and orders additional materials as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing department development by creating department-specific trainings, fostering clinical skill growth within their department, and providing mentorship (both within and outside their department).
  • Collaborate with all department heads and directors regarding standardization of procedures and policies across Blue Bird Day.

  • Participate in company open houses, marketing events, or other company events as needed.
  • Ensures employees within their location's department understand policies and procedures. Holds employees accountable for following applicable policies and procedures and implements Performance Action Plans and/or Write-ups when necessary.
  • Participates in program development such as updates to lesson plans, billing guides, trainings, hierarchy, data collection, and company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Supports the consistency of the program across locations.
  • Provides on-site support to new locations or locations that do not currently have a Department Lead in the areas of interviewing, mentorship, observations, and supervision as needed.
  • Provides support to Eyas Landing and Merlin Day Academy, as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in their given discipline
  • Receives ratings of 4 or higher (Exceeds Expectations) in most categories on performance review
  • Effectively demonstrates competencies associated with their role
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience at Blue Bird Day
  • Preferably a current department lead

Working Environment and Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The working environment may at times be busy with small groups of children and individual sessions with children while other clients/therapists are present.

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to lift at least 35 lbs, including but not limited to lifting children, therapy equipment etc.
  • Ability to walk and/or run if needed to keep clients safe.
  • Ability to implement behavior management techniques, based on training provided by the company.
  • Ability to use hands and arms to prepare and perform required therapy tasks.
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, desktop, and ipad to complete documentation required for funders.
