My Professional Goals

  1. Graduate with my Masters in ABA and become a BCBA.

My Story

Growing up my younger brother went to a different school than me, one that had a special education program. 15 years to be exact, many people didn’t know I had a younger brother. I knew from a young age I wanted to fix that system and to keep siblings together. In high school, we finally went to that same school. I was very involved with my brothers’ education. Helping out made me feel like I was making a change in the world. That is when I knew I wanted to work with children with special needs. My story started at Blue Bird Day as an intern. During this time I was able to learn and observe from all different types of therapists and children. Once I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago, I was hired on as a Therapeutic Assistant. I’ve learned so much about each discipline and proud to say that I am pursuing a Masters Degree in ABA to become a BCBA.

My Blue Bird Day

I enjoy working at Blue Bird Day because of the community, so much collaboration is done behind the scenes. I’m in awe when you see a group of therapists and TAs coming together to come up with a plan that is best for the clients.

Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate  preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.

We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy.  A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.

Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
