My Story

I attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and received a B.A. in Medical Anthropology with minors in Spanish and Hispanic Studies, Theology, and Graphic Design. After graduating, I participated in a year-long volunteer program through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. In accordance with the core values of spirituality, simple living, community, and social justice, I served in the children’s services department at the largest family homeless shelter in San Francisco, California. Last summer, I worked as the family literacy intern at a non-profit organization providing competitive soccer opportunities and academic support to refugee children in Kansas City, Missouri. In response to a pandemic that exacerbated inequalities in education, I worked as a kindergarten paraprofessional in a low-income, dual language elementary school in Omaha, Nebraska, from August 2020 to May 2022. Along the way, I have discovered I really enjoy working with children and families. After volunteering in the child life department at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, I knew I wanted to become a child life specialist. I am currently a graduate student at the Erikson Institute and am pursuing a master’s degree in child development with a concentration in child life.

My Advocacy

I support organizations in children’s literacy (Prime Time Family Reading), family homelessness (Raphael House), and adult intellectual and developmental disability (Best Buddies).

My Education

My Blue Bird Day

  1. I am currently a graduate student at the Erikson Institute and am pursuing a master’s degree in child development with a concentration in child life. I am eager to learn with and from Blue Bird’s students, families, and staff!

Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate  preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.

We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy.  A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.

Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
