Professional Goals

  1. I would like to go back to school to study Child Development in hopes of becoming a Developmental Therapist or a Child Development Specialist working in a hospital or school setting.

My Story

Working with children is something that I fell in love with unexpectedly. After nearly finishing my Bachelors degree program to teach middle school and high school English, I took time off from my studies and worked as a toddler teacher at an early childhood center for three and a half years. During my time as a teacher, I noticed possible signs of speech delay and autism in some students but was not trained or qualified enough to make such a diagnosis. Whenever children in my classroom were diagnosed with Autism or learning disabilities, therapists that were contracted outside of the center would come in and help said children and I was always curious about the methods that these therapists were using to help the children in my classroom. Often as a teacher who has ten toddlers in my care, I felt as though I was not doing enough to help children who were not reaching developmental milestones as quickly as other children their age. Because of this, I began looking into developmental therapy so that I could be of service to children in need.

Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate  preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.

We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy.  A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.

Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
