My Story
In high school, I was a student Athletic Trainer and became fascinated with physical rehabilitation of the human body. I took my interest and dove into physical therapy at the very start of my undergrad at NIU. In grad school, I was fortunate enough to have multiple clinical setting experiences from pediatrics to geriatrics and hospitals to outpatient settings. By the end of my clinical rotations, I knew I had a passion for work with children and being surrounded by their high energies and smiling faces.
My Professional Goals
- Help mentor new clinicians and students to achieve their full potential.
- Continue to learn new intervention strategies.
My Blue Bird Day
While at Blue Bird Day I have enjoyed working with such a multidisciplinary team. Receiving input on a child’s communication, behavior, and sensory system from my colleagues has made me a well-rounded therapist. I feel my treatment sessions are more productive when I know how to specifically structure my sessions in order to not over stimulate, help regulate, and properly communicate with each child.
Blue Bird Day
Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.
We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy. A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.
Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
