My Story

I had always wanted to work with children and within the healthcare world. I loved crafts and pretend play but also found gross anatomy in college fascinating. I became intrigued with the field of occupational therapy while providing childcare for a boy who had cerebral palsy. I had the opportunity to join his therapy sessions and was blown away by the impact occupational therapy had in helping build his independence and engagement in everyday life. After some more research, I found occupational therapy to be a perfect marriage of my interests. Finding a career that offers me constant opportunities to learn and grow and continues to spark my curiosity is such a gift.

My Blue Bird Day

I have been at Blue Bird day since the very beginning. I began my career in pediatrics as an occupational therapist providing early intervention services at Eyas Landing, Blue Bird Day’s sister company (one of the first!). I became the director at Blue Bird day in 2017 when Blue Bird Day separated from Eyas Landing and have continued to help our program grow into what it is today. I am continuously amazed by the passion our providers bring with them each day. The sounds of cheering and laughter can constantly be heard while walking our hallways as everyone celebrates our clients’ accomplishments, both big and small. It’s hard to describe the joy one can receive from being a part of a family’s therapeutic journey and watching a child’s personality and skills emerge as they connect with the world around them.

My Professional Goals

  1. To continue to grow Blue Bird Day to ensure all children have access to the best therapy services.
  2. To continue to develop my own leadership skills and foster building those skills in others.

Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate  preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child.

We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy.  A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved.

Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well.
