2. Please help guide child through this craft (hand-over-hand or prepping certain materials may be necessary) as it is more challenging (please see Pinterest link for step-by-step instructions).

3. Ask your child questions that will help them connect with the craft they are making; talk/help your child through each step of the craft! Engage your child in questions about the craft they are making! What color should we make the turkey? Where does a turkey live? What does a turkey say? How many leaves should we use? Are the leaves big or small?

Movement Time Activity: Food Scavenger Hunt

Materials:

Pretend food and/or pantry items.

Basket or shopping bag or shopping cart.

Skill Check

The goal of this week focuses on moving your body around the house to climb high and crawl low, while using your looking eyes to find all the food items for your Thanksgiving meal!

Growing My Skills

Scatter pretend food items or pantry items around the home: some at eye-level, some on elevated surfaces, some on the floor underneath furniture or low obstacles.

Guide your child to look around the home to try and find all the items you need for your picnic.

Help them climb up and over furniture, reach above head, or go on tip-toes if the item is high.

Help them crawl under if the item is low.

Have them carry around all the items in a basket, bag, or cart for strengthening and heavy work.

Mealtime Activity: Shopping for Thanksgiving

Materials:

Thanksgiving day shopping list.

Pictures of food and materials meant for Thanksgiving day.

Example.

Skill Check

The goal of this activity is to encourage your child’s participation in grocery shopping for Thanksgiving day using a visual menu and bingo cards.

Growing My Skills

After preparing a menu for next week’s Thanksgiving holiday, create a shopping list for your family using visuals of the food items on the list.

Print out the list in the form of a bingo card and ask your child to find the food on the cart to help with shopping. This is an excellent way to encourage participation while shopping and prepare child for the family meal.
